For medication that needs to be stored at room temperature, between 16 and 25°C, and that you want to protect from heat. Think of an insulin pen that you have started using and that therefore no longer belongs in the fridge, or medication that would get too warm in the car, on the beach or in a tent.

By evaporation. The bag contains a gel pad that you soak in water for a minute. It absorbs many times its own weight in water. That water then slowly evaporates through the fabric, drawing heat away from the contents. It is the same principle as when you blow on a wet hand and it feels cold.

This means you only need tap water on the go. No freezer, no socket, no battery.

That depends on the temperature. At around 32°C, you need to wet the element more often than at lower temperatures. Feel it in the morning: if it still feels damp, you are fine for that day.

Never put the bag in a plastic bag. It then cannot breathe and the cooling no longer works. Do you have tablets instead of pens or vials? Put them in a sealed bag to be on the safe side.

We test up to 32°C. At that ambient temperature, the inside stays just around 25°C. In practice, you are rarely in that heat continuously for a whole day, because you spend time indoors or in air conditioning.

Yes. The bag can be taken as hand luggage. For the medication itself, always carry a medical passport or a doctor's statement in English.

With daily use with tap water, a gel pad lasts about a year and a half (+/- 600 days). Individual gel pads are available as an accessory, so the bag itself lasts much longer.

Because air warms up much faster than liquid. If you measure the air in a bag, the performance seems better or worse than it really is for your medication. What counts is the temperature of the liquid in your pen.

That is why we measure there, and why our stated hours are more conservative and more reliable than figures based on air measurements.

Yes, you can take our MediCooler products (medication cooling bags and medication cool boxes) with you without any problems. Under European regulations, carrying cooling products and medication is fully permitted.

Here's how to get through security quickly and easily:

Gel packs in hand luggage: Gel packs are allowed in your hand luggage as long as they are completely frozen (they are then considered a solid).

On the return journey: Have the gel packs thawed (become liquid)? Refreeze them before the return flight, or simply put them in your checked luggage.

Medication: To be on the safe side, carry a medication passport (free from your pharmacy) or a doctor's statement. If you are asked for it, just show it briefly and you can carry straight on.
